Jürgen Palmtag: Kraakspeech, music performance - Saturday, April 22, 2017, Einraumhaus, Mannheim and kulTurm, Ludwigshafen // Multimedia artist Jürgen Palmtag celebrates his computer-generated audio pieces, which are comprised of his own samples, speech song, acoustic sound effects, and improvisation on the harmonica. The performance will be accompanied in real time by projected photographs and complemented by clips from the artist’s own music videos. The launch will take place on the same day at the following locations: Einraumhaus Mannheim, 3 p.m., with an introduction by Dr. Inge Herold (Acting Director of Kunsthalle Mannheim); kulTurm Ludwigshafen, 8 p.m., with an introduction by René Zechlin (Director of the Wilhelm Hack Museum, Ludwigshafen).

Kraakspeech: Music Performance
The series of events kicks off with Jürgen Palmtag’s daytime musical and sound-poetry intervention at Einraumhaus, Mannheim. The performance will evolve into evening festivities at UFO, on the observation deck of the former water reservoir at kulTurm in Ludwigshafen.
Jürgen Palmtag’s computer-generated electronic music will be played both inside the exhibition space and outside in public spaces on portable speakers. The artist’s site-specific sound will be composed of speech and sound effects.
Jürgen Palmtag (b. 1951, Schömberg-Schörzingen, Germany)
Jürgen Palmtag studied painting and graphic design at the Berlin Academy of the Arts. Since the 1980s, he has been working on different groups of pieces focusing on text/image illustration. Palmtag’s computer-generated electronic music is played both inside the exhibition space and outside in public spaces on portable speakers. A number of his works are on display in the collection at the Kunsthalle Mannheim.
The artist performs experimental music and organizes a wide range of concerts for computer-based and electronic music performance. His “live audio pieces” are performed under the pseudonym TESTPILLOTT and are composed of improvised speech, analog and digital sounds, loud sound samples, background noise, and chaotic soundscapes.
