The media philosopher from Bern will take us on a dizzying journey through the history of anthropological media, tracing the digital age back to early forms of communication. From the selfie to the hand prints of the Stone Age, the history of art will be turned on its head. Special attention will be paid to simultaneous observation and image creation in a prosumer culture, which will be discussed by Lischka through reference to the “monitorstadium,” his media theoretical paradigm.
The lecture will take place during the Photo Biennale at Kunstverein Ludwigshafen am Rhein, in the context of the exhibition topos “Schiffbruch mit Zuschauer: Über die (Un)Möglichkeit des Handelns auf Distanz”, curated by Boaz Levin.
