The Okzidentalismus-Institut is a temporary store space installation which deals with the cultural stereotypes surrounding Orientalism and “western” culture respectively. The artistic intervention exhibits a fictional travel agency, Turkish sculptures, and a thematically aligned assemblage of materials, dealing with interpretations of societal patterns.
In order to accommodate a large audience on site, a store will be rented in Mannheim’s city center for the intervention, which is held in cooperation with the Türkischer Frauenverein Connecticum e.V. The artist discussion will be directed by art historian Dr. Buket Altinoba.
